With a broad range of backgrounds and skills, the leadership team at Data Driven Safety shares a commitment to innovation, responsible data management, and building an organization that makes a difference.
Jason Murphy, Chief Executive Officer
Prior to co-founding Data Driven Safety in 2009, Jason was employed by Ingersoll Rand Company as the Vice President and General Counsel of its Club Car business unit, General Counsel for its Construction Technologies Sector, and General Counsel for all enterprise operations in Latin America. Jason also served as a North Carolina prosecutor for several years, where he handled cases involving child victims and was able to obtain authorization to initiate the state's second non-federal wiretap program. Jason proudly flew on several occasions in law enforcement helicopters and still wishes that he had played Augusta National while at Club Car. He graduated with honors from Duke University School of Law and the University of Tennessee, where he was named poet laureate.
Adarsh Carter, Chief Technology Officer
Disregarding the lessons learned during a two-year stint as law school roommates, Adarsh agreed to leave sunny California in 2009 to co-found Data Driven Safety with Jason Murphy. Prior to creating the adaptive consumption technology that sits at the heart of the company, Adarsh amassed years of information technology experience, with a focus on database network security and architecture/management. Adarsh graduated from Duke University School of Law and Dartmouth College.
Justin Murphy, Chief Financial Officer
After years of cajoling from his older brother, Justin finally agreed in 2013 to join Data Driven Safety. Before immersion into the world of public data, Justin ran a residential construction firm which was able to weather the 2008 economic downturn. Years later, Justin still takes the time to field phone calls from home owners. In addition to his role as CFO, Justin has been responsible for numerous data collection initiatives and regularly corresponds with hundreds of court clerks. Despite being a natural “people person,” Justin has made great strides in the past few years to blend into our introvert-laden culture. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. Justin received his CPA in 2003.
Peter Collins, Chief Sales Officer
After years of interactions with Data Driven Safety in his role as Sales VP with Appriss, Peter joined our team in 2016. Peter parlayed his sales experience at American Express, GE, and Expedia into a role with Data Driven Safety that included opening our “mountain office” in Denver, where powder days have become a tolerated aspect of the employment policy. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where he earned All-American Honors in lacrosse.
Melissa Frayer, General Counsel
Prior to joining Data Driven Safety in 2018, Melissa was a Senior Associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Her experience includes working with technology companies on more than a dozen initial public offerings in addition to secondary securities offerings and M&A transactions. Melissa was also an integral member of the firm's cryptocurrency and blockchain practice groups. Early in her career, Melissa served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ralph K. Winter on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Melissa graduated from Columbia Law School and Yale University, where she won an Ivy League championship on the Yale Women's Crew. A restless athlete, Melissa's enjoys running races on roads and trails around the country.
